THAILAND. Rama V Birthday Silver Medal, CS 1233 (1871). CHOICE EXTREMELY FINE.
53 mm; 66.98 gms. MTRE-pg. 29. RARE. Bust of King Rama V facing left with hair in the Mahad Thai style, wearing Sua Yant formal tunic with orders and sash left, legend around; Reverse: Six line inscription in wreath. The first Thai medal to feature a portrait, struck to celebrate the 18th birthday of King Rama V. A bit of cabinet friction but with choice rims and free of defects. Seldom ever encountered in silver and an excellent piece of nineteenth century Thai heritage. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.
