THAILAND. Rattanakosin Centennial Bronze Medal, CS 1244 (1882). Rama V (1868-1910). EXTREMELY FINE.
71 mm; 120.25 gms. Cataloged on page 41 in Medals of The Rattanakosin Era 1782-1982. VERY RARE. Struck to commemorate the 100th anniversary of reconstruction of the Emerald Buddha Temple. A heavy and impressive piece that is seldom offered. Sharp well struck portrait and temple with a mostly brown patina, along with smaller areas of original red on the reverse. Miniscule legends along the periphery exhibit distinct weakness, as typically seen on bronze examples of the issue. A terrific slice of Thai history from the reign of arguably the most successful Thai king to have ever lived. When coupled with the rarity of the medal an item of extreme desirability. EXTREMELY FINE.
Estimate: $1000.00- $1500.00
