CHINA. 10 Cash, ND (ca. 1350-68). Toghan Temur (1333-68). FINE.
44.67 mm; 20.09 gms. Hartill-19.115; FD-1808; Schjoth-1111. "Zhi Zheng Tong Bao" (Coin of 1350); Reverse: "Shi" (10) above. Coarse obverse characters. Cast during a time of economic reform circa 1350, when the attempt was made to replace smaller size coinage with paper money and larger coins. Due to its inferior manufacture, the paper money soon became too troublesome to redeem and a widespread loss of confidence in the monetary system took hold, resulting in massive price inflation. Featuring a lovely (if slightly dark) sea-foam patina. FINE.
Estimate: $70.00- $100.00
