Artuqid of Hisn Kayfa, Qara Arslan (539-570h), copper dirham, without mint name, undated, , 27 mm. wt. 6.39gms. (Spengler and Sayles Vol. I - The Artuqids 2.4; Album 1820.2c), about very fine, very rare. The earliest copper coinage of this dynasty was a continuation of the Christian coinage of the Byzantine Empire, but shortly after this issue was struck the Artuqids replaced Christian symbolism with a less controversial astrological design.
