Ottoman, 'Uthman III b. Mustafa (1168-1171h), gold ziynet three funduq, Islambul 1168h ha, wt. 10.27gms. (Pere 590), small piercing at 12 o'clock, otherwise about extremely fine, rare in this condition. The Turkish term ziynet means 'ornamented', which describes the decorative border found on the obverse and reverse of this coinage. It was customary for these coins to have several different designs. Presumably these could be chosen according to the purchasers' preferences. (£600 - 800)
