Ottoman, 'Abd al-Hamid II, ziynet 250 qurush, Qustantaniyya 1293h, ry 34, wt. 17.66gms. (KM.742), very slight traces of mounting at 12 o'clock otherwise brilliant good extremely fine, extremely rare. Mint records show that 931 examples of this denomination were struck in the last year of 'Abd al-Hamid's long reign and in the first regnal year of his successor, Muhammad V Rashad. This very rare date was missing from the comprehensive Landon Thomas collection sold by Künker, Sale 199 in December 2011. (£1250 - 1500)
