INDIA. Kushan Empire. Heraios or Kujula Kadphises (ca. AD 1-30/50). AR tetradrachm (31mm, 13.46 gm, 12h). Diademed and draped bust of Heraios right, with moustache and goatee; bead-and-reel border / TVIANNOYTΣ HAOY, Heraios riding right on horseback, Nike flying right behind, crowning him with wreath; AN-T-E-IX between horse's legs, KOIIANOY below. Cribb, Heraus 1. Cf. Mitchiner ACW 2836 (different lower inscription). Very rare, particularly with this reverse inscription, most known examples having ΣΑΝΑΒ between horse's legs. A pleasing coin of this enigmatic ruler, the likely founder of India's powerful Kushan Dynasty! Light gray toning with some reverse deposits in fields. Good Very Fine.
