Faustina Junior, wife of Marcus Aurelius (Augusta, AD 147-175). AV aureus (20mm, 7.24 gm, 11h). Rome, under Antoninus Pius, ca. AD 138-161. FAVSTINA AVG P II AVG FIL, draped bust of Faustina right, wearing stephane / V-E-NVS, Venus standing left, holding apple and rudder; dolphin entwined around rudder. Cf. RIC (Antoninus) 517 (dolphin twined around rudder). Calicó 2097 variant (no stephane). See Heritage 3033 ( 8 August 2014), lot 23085, for an example struck from the same dies.
