MAXIMIANVS AVG, laureate head of Maximian right / XCVI - T in two lines across field within wreath with large central jewel. RIC 20b. RSC 698. Sharply struck on a broad flan, with considerable surface luster. NGC MS 5/5 - 4/5.The numeral XCVI on the reverse indicates the ideal weight of the newly introduced silver argenteus is 1/96th of a Roman pound.
