George V gold Sovereign 1920-M MS62 PCGS, Melbourne mint, KM29, S-3999. A widely known rarity from the Melbourne mint (27 graded by PCGS), sitting behind only the 1921 (7 graded by PCGS), 1922 (10 graded by PCGS) and 1929 (23 graded by PCGS) George V issues in terms of surviving population and appearances on the market. Of those survivors for the date, the present example certainly must stand out, as its vivid orange-gold toned surfaces make an instant and dramatic impression. Close inspection reveals the typical marks of the grade, but all escape focal significance. For the dedicated collector of the series, an offering that certainly merits careful consideration. From the Collinson Collection of Australian Sovereign PCGS Registry Sets
