George V gold Sovereign 1924-S MS63 PCGS, Sydney mint, KM29, S-4003. Mintage: 394,000. The second lowest mintage date for the George V Syndey Mint sovereign next to the extremely rare 1920, and a coin that frequently fell casualty to mass meltings, leaving few example in circulation and even fewer collectible examples on the market today. In terms of quality, the present example certainly qualifies as premium for the assigned grade, and exists as one the top third-party graded examples on the market; the surfaces showcase full, bright luster, with limited marks that distract the eye. Only the forth example of the date that we've offered, the last being a MS65 and the single finest graded at PCGS that brought $25,850 in September 2015. That price, a break-out for the date, certainly brought even more attention to this already coveted date, and for the long-term collector, should very much signal the potential for other top examples of the date. From the Collinson Collection of Australian Sovereign PCGS Registry Sets
