Valdivia. City Emergency Issue silver 2 Reales 1822 VF35 NGC, Valdivia mint, KM-5. APDLVA countermark on the obverse. Crudely produced, as one might expect of emergency coins struck by Don Antonio Adriazola, a local estate owner, and authorized by the Governor of Valdivia. The coins were struck with silver taken from local residents, and used to pay the local garrison. An extremely rare one-year type. Only four pieces of the 2 Reales have been certified by NGC, two with the countermark and two without. None of the two reales have been certified by PCGS.
Estimate: 1000-1500 USD
