Republic Real 1849-JB MS62 NGC, San Jose mint, KM66. Lustrous Mint State with the usual slight weakness of strike in the centers on the reverse (non date) side but attractive surface quality. A slightly debased (.750 fineness) two-year type, common in lower grades but conditionally very rare in this charming quality. The only Mint State example currently certified by NGC, and one of a handful comparable examples of the type seen by the cataloguer (including the ex. Meyer coin - Spink Smythe 10/2008, lot 1064). Ex. Lissner Collection (CNG 8/2014 lot 1545).From the Pura Vida Collection, Part II
