Republic white-metal Pattern Peso 1850-JB Uncirculated, San Jose mint, KM-Pn2. Reeded edge, 20.92 grams. Some pitting seen on the surfaces yet with strong underlying luster and only very slight handling evidence. An extremely rare pattern for the Peso denomination which was never struck for circulation, similar to and rarer than the well known white metal pattern for the 1850 Onza with only four examples known to the cataloguer. Most attractive despite the noted trivial flaws and an important addition for any advanced cabinet of Costa Rican coins.Ex.
