Republic white-metal Pattern Escudo 1850-JB MS62 NGC, cf. KM98. A charming and extremely rare pattern with deeper coloration in the exposed fields and bright luster around the protected areas. Unlike the coinage struck for circulation, this example is almost entirely struck up, with the native's skirt showing much of its intended detail. Perhaps unique, this is the only example we have traced, it having first sold as a part of the Whittier Collection in 2006 and then again in the Mayer Collection in 2008 for $2,860.Ex.
