Republic gold 5 Pesos 1870-GW XF45 NGC, San Jose mint, KM114. Wholesome for the designation with contained, even wear, charming orangish toning and no distracting defects. The key date of this four-year type, missing in the Eliasberg collection and one of only six confirmed examples by the cataloguer (note that the mintage figure of 15,000 pieces indicated in the SCWC is misleading as the majority of those pieces were dated 1869). Currently the single certified example of the date by either major third party grading service, an unflawed and rather handsome representative of this rarity.From the Pura Vida Collection, Part II
