George III gold Proof 1/2 Guinea 1813 PR64 NGC, Royal mint, KM651, S-3737, WR-135. A somewhat weak central strike, but technically a choice Mint State specimen which lacks any noticeable handling marks. Some die polishing lines are noted throughout, but basically no hairlines. Deep coppery tones and a particularly pleasing reverse. A total of three proof 1813 1/2 guineas have been graded by NGC, with this being tied for the finest of them---the other selling for a hammer of $12,000 in August 2014 and with a flan flaw on the obverse.Ex.
