Nasir al-Din Shah gold 10 Toman AH1311 (1894) AU55 NGC, Tehran mint, KM945. The scarcer date from this two-year series, featuring the stately bust of a uniformed Nasir al-Din Shah surrounded by open fields that glow with amber-tinged luster and contain minimal evidence of light handling. The portrait alone is exceptional, with the details of the Shah fully-rendered--even his nose--and the artistic reverse motif further delivers with crisp edges atop the raised elements. Wear is also very minimal, affecting the devices rather evenly. Rarely encountered, as this is the only certified example of the date by NGC and with only one specimen graded finer by PCGS, this selection is decidedly choice and visually engaging from all angles.
