Naples & Sicily. Joachim Murat Medal 1813 Near XF, Bramsen-1296, Julius-2741. Commemorating Murat's return to Naples following the Russian campaign. Possibly designed by A. Canova, 42 mm, 41.19 gm. Obv. Head right. Rev. Murat on horse rearing right, head left, holding reins and being crowned by Victory flying right from above. Rich brown surfaces, with typical die crack across the face and in the lower field on the reverse. A few rim nicks and scattered marks. Very rare in all metals; a bronze example with similar surface issues realized a hammer of over $3,000 by NAC in 2008.
