Ferdinand VII silver City of Puebla Proclamation Medal 1808 UNC, Grove-F122a. 22.72g, 41x35mm. By Gordillo. A beautiful oval proclamation with dusky toned surfaces that showcase multicolored iridescent highlights around the raised devices. Choice for a proclamation piece in general, as most were held as keepsakes by non-numismatists and as a result, generally display heavy handling. The present example, very rare in silver, obviously made it into a collector's (or museum) hands unscathed, at which time ink was applied in the right reverse field, likely as a inventory tag. For the collector interested in assembling a collection that illustrates Ferdinand's many engraved bust types, this wonderful rendering will undoubtedly serve as a welcome addition.
