Republic 8 Reales 1852/42 Ca-RG MS62 NGC, Chihuahua mint, KM377.2, DP-Ca23. Highly lustrous Mint State with attractive steel toning, only the expected mild surface abrasions for the designation and an unusually bold strike for the issue including a well-detailed eagle. Currently the single second finest certified example at either major third party grading service behind an MS63 NGC coin and one of only three specimens that have reached the MS designation, including the clearly inferior MS61 NGC example sold by us as part of the Nogales collection (Heritage Auctions 9/2013, lot 28003 for $650) - which showed the aforementioned softness of strike in the centers often encountered on this very scarce date. As such, worthy of a premium bid from the collector of this popular series.From the FoxLair Collection
