Republic 8 Reales 1866 Ho-MP AU55 NGC, Hermosillo mint, KM377.9, DP-Ho08. Partially lustrous with contained high-point wear and moderate surface handling marks, as expected for the assigned grade. A very rare date/mint combination, collectible in any grade - DP comments: "...extremely rare and ... a candidate for the rarest 8 Reales of Hermosillo. The problem is finding one" -and extremely rare in this pleasant and unflawed quality. Recent records of this key issue include a repaired example (Heritage Auctions 1/2015, lot 35840 for $2,200) and a cleaned yet attractive XF coin (Heritage Auctions 4/2015, lot 35258 for $2,800).
