Isabel II Type VI Countermarked 8 Reales ND (1834-37) AU50 PCGS, Manila mint, KM101 ("Rare"), Basso-56. Countermark struck upon 1816-B Brazilian 960 reis (KM307.1). This stamp was only issued for about a 1-1/2 years, most having been placed on Republican-era crowns that circulated widely in areas geographically closer to the Philippines than Brazil. As such, very rare on this host, and even more so in such a pleasant state. While we've seen no other examples of this type sell recently, we do note the sale of a Type V countermark of Ferdinand VII on a Brazilian host (KM53), also listed as rare, selling in a January 2015 Stack's Bowers auction for $7,000 hammer.

Estimate: 2000-2500 USD
