Sierra Leone
British Colony copper Proof 100 Cents (Dollar) 1791 PR63 Brown NGC, FT2b, KM6a. An alluring example of this larger denomination with unmistakable luster that glistens throughout the surfaces in several alluring shades of honeydew, copper, and gold. The eye is immediately drawn to the colorful fields, but quickly moves on to the design motifs that are exceptionally struck, equal to, or perhaps finer, than the specimen we sold earlier this year in our NY sale which hammered for $5250. The fields are also remarkable, with nary a mark to describe, and only a few darker toning spots are noted throughout both sides. As such, this conservatively-graded selection delivers from every angle, and is worthy of much attention.
