Republic gold "Veld" Pond 1902 Fine - Mounted, Pilgram's Rest mint, KM11, Fr-4, Hern-Z54, with slash on obv. Like many of its fellow ponds, this piece saw definite use during its early life as compensation to soldier during the Boer War, and later was transformed into a jewelry piece with a bezel and ornamented suspension mount at the top. It features some light toning on top of the polished surfaces, and is still a very rare and desirable piece, and much easier to acquire than specimens approaching mint state.
Estimate: 2000-3000 USD
