Karl IX 4 Mark 1609 MS63+ NGC, KM24, AAH-37. A spectacular specimen, broad in stature and fully-illustrative in design, featuring the crowned, half-length bust of Karl IX with Jehovah above, and a reverse crowned coat of arms that divides the date. The surfaces are evenly patinated in a classic cabinet-gray color, with moments of lively luster intermixed with darker tone at the peripheries. The strike is unmistakably crisp--from the details of the King's face, to the individual elements in the reverse shield. Minor planchet irregularities are noted, and in our opinion, only add to the intrigue of this selection. Not surprisingly, this current offering is the only certified example of the date by NGC; furthermore, this selection bears the coveted plus designation for superior eye appeal. An absolutely enchanting piece that belongs in a premium collection. Krause catalog price(s) for this item: $575 in VF, $1100 in EF.

Estimate: 5000-7000 USD
