Appenzell. Canton 4 Franken 1816 MS65 NGC, KM12. Regarded as one of the scarcest of the cantonal Talers, this immense offering delights the eye with graphite coloration that drips from the devices and all-over gunmetal tone that glistens due to an impressive amount of mint bloom that resides beneath the patina. The design features are expertly-struck, with highpoint definition easily identifiable and the image of the rampant bear is most pleasing to the eye. Notable as a one-year type with a scant mintage of just 1,850 pieces, this conditionally-rare specimen currently holds the title for the finest-graded example by NGC.
