Jade Pendant from Costa Rica, ca. 500 - 1500 AD. A fine avian deity pendant from Costa Rica, ca. 500 - 1500 AD. This beautifully detailed example is 3-3/4 high and is carved from translucent greenish-tinged, white jade. It is an unusual depiction of a typical avian deity topped with a second head. The suspension hole retains some of the original material used to suspend it and calcification lines create a lovely surface texture. Ex Hart collection. Value range: $450 - $600.
