LUCANIA. Sybaris. Ca. 550-510 BC. AR stater or nomos (29mm, 7.19 gm, 12h). Struck circa 530-510 BC. Bull standing left, head reverted, on dotted exergual line, M V in exergue / Bull standing right, head reverted, incuse, on line composed of hash marks, dotted border. HN Italy 1730. SNG ANS 845. Very rare variety! Graffito X in obverse upper field; otherwise an exceptionally pleasing example with a wonderful incuse reverse. NGC Choice Fine 5/5 - 3/5, light graffito.
