SICILY. Syracuse. Hieron II (275-215 BC). AR tetralitron (2.88 gm). Diademed head of Gelon II (son and co-regent of Hieron II) left / Eagle with closed wings standing to right on thunderbolt. SNG Lockett 1020 (same dies). M. Caccamo Caltabiano et al., Siracusa Ellenistica (Messina 1997), p. 200, 285, pl. 29. Very rare denomination and portrait! Sadly, broken along one edge (with broken piece provided), otherwise Good Very Fine.
