ISLANDS off IONIA, Samos. Circa 408/4-380/66 BC. AR Tetradrachm (23mm, 14.59 g, 1h). Alkmeon, son of Hegemoneos, magistrate. Facing lion scalp / Forepart of bull right; above, AΛKMEΩN HΓEMONEΩΣ in two lines; laurel branch to left, ΣA below; [all within shallow incuse square]. Barron 152bis (A77/P146a); HGC 6, 1218. Good VF, toned, areas of roughness on reverse. Very rare, only four examples with this magistrate noted by Barron, two in CoinArchives.
