Prow right, above, ROMA; below, three pellets. Cr. 97/5c or 97/13d. AE. g. 13.74 RRR. Some corrosion on obverse, around the head of Mercury, and minor encrustations on reverse, otherwise aboutEF/EF. The weight standard of Cr. 97/5c is based on an as of about 64 gr., whereas the weight standard of Cr. 97/13d is based on an as of about 45 gr. A very rare, fascinating and enigmatic issue.
