BRITISH COINS, Commonwealth (1649-1660), Silver Shilling, 1649, English shield within laurel and palm branches, initial mark sun, legends in English surrounding, outer beaded circle both sides, rev shields of England and Ireland, with value above, all within beaded circle, date and legend surrounding, 5.61g (ESC 982; Bull 69; N 2724; S 3217). Darkly toned with a patina from the River Thames mud, good very fine.
