BRITISH COINS, William IV (1830-1837), Gold Proof Maundy Penny, 1831, bare head right, GULIELMUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F: D:, toothed border surrounding both sides, rev inverted die axis, crowned figure 1, date wither side, oak wreath surrounding, edge plain, 1.07g (Robinson 355; cf Bull 2549 (part); cf Davies 420 (part); cf ESC 2438 (part); cf S 3840). A little weakly struck on second half of obverse legend, light hairline scratch in obverse field in front of face, nick in reverse field, otherwise extremely fine, toned and extremely rare.
