THE ALFRED FRANKLIN COLLECTION OF ANCIENT COINS, GREEK SILVER COINS, Cilicia, Tarsos, Datames (Satrap 378-372 BC), Silver Stater, Aramaic legend ('Baaltars'), Baaltars, naked to waist, seated right, his upper body and head facing, holding an eagle-tipped sceptre, and an ear of corn and a bunch of grapes, a thymiaterion at his side, all in a crenellated border, rev Aramaic legend ('Datames'), god Ana, naked, standing right, pointing with his outstretched right hand at Datames, standing left, wearing a himation, his right hand raised, a thymiaterion between them, all within a dotted square within a temple with pinnacles, 10.83g, 12h (SNG Paris 291; SNG Levante 83). Attractively toned, good metal, extremely fine and rare.
