THE ALFRED FRANKLIN COLLECTION OF ANCIENT COINS, ROMAN GOLD, Constans (AD 337-350), Gold Solidus, mint of Thessalonica, struck AD 347-378, CONSTANS AVGVSTVS, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust facing right, rev VICTORIAE DD NN AVGG, two Victories facing one another, holding between them a wreath inscribed with vows intended for Constantius II, VOT/XX/MVLT/XXX, TES in exergue, 4.24g, 6h (RIC -; cf Constans 74 (obverse), Constantius II 71 (reverse); Depeyrot 5/6, two specimens known). Sharply struck, good extremely fine and an extremely rare mule.
