Norbanus (43 BC), Gold Aureus, draped bust of Africa facing right, wearing an elephant's skin headdress, rev L CESTIVS / C NORBA, EX S C - PR, curule chair with decorated front legs adorned with eagles upon which are two facing snakes, 7.95g, 1h (Crawford 491/1b; Calicó 4, these dies; Bahrfeldt 25 and pl. IV, 19, these dies; Syd 1154). The usual minor weakness on the left eagle for this reverse die, otherwise well-struck and of good style, about extremely fine, a rare variety.
