THE COLLECTION OF A CLASSICIST, ANCIENT COINS, Republic (c.225-214 BC), Silver Quadrigatus Didrachm, laureate Janiform head of Dioscuri, rev Jupiter, holding a sceptre and hurling a thunderbolt, in a fast quadriga right driven by Victory, ROMA incuse on a raised tablet below, 6.56g, 6h (Cr 28/3; Sydenham 64; RBW 63; HN Italy 334). A beautiful example, struck on a very broad flan, a charming cabinet tone with blue and purple iridescence, two very light flan cracks, about extremely fine and most attractive.
