THE COLLECTION OF A CLASSICIST, BRITISH COINS, Charles I, Silver Halfcrown, Shrewsbury / Aberystwyth mint mule, c.1642, King on horseback left, holding sword upright, scarf at waist, groundline below, squat plume behind, beaded and linear circles and legend surrounding both sides, initial mark two pellets, rev garnished oval quartered shield of arms, plumes above, mintmark book at end of legend, 14.60g (Bull 586/38 mule (5-12a); Brooker -; N 2377/2325; S 2933A). Flatness in striking gives weakness both sides, otherwise about very fine, lightly toned around legends, of the highest rarity, the only example recorded by Bull is traced in the National Museum of Wales Collection.
