SICILY, Syracuse. Second Democracy. 466-405 BC. AR Tetradrachm (25.5mm, 17.19 g, 11h). Struck circa 466-460 BC. Charioteer, holding kentron in right hand, reins in both, driving slow quadriga right; above, Nike flying right, crowning horses with open wreath held in both hands; in exergue, ketos right / Head of Arethousa right, wearing pearl tainia, single-pendant earring, and necklace; Σ-V-RAKOΣ-I-ON and four dolphins around. Boehringer Series XIVa, 470 (V253/R338); HGC 2, 1311. Good VF, attractive old cabinet tone, slight die shift on reverse.
