View of map for the Canal; Below, legend in seven lines and map of the Suez canal. Rev: Legend in 4 lines centered within legend. Bronze above and below (Said Ali Pacha, Napoleon III & Abdul Aziz). 197 grams. 72 mm. Light hairlines otherwise Almost Uncirculated and very RARE much sort after Medallion. (Said Pasha invited de Lesseps to pay him a visit, and on 7 November 1854 he landed at Alexandria; on the 30th of the same month Said Pasha signed the concession authorizing him to build the Suez Canal) De Lesseps almost died building the Canal, this iconic medallion is a testament to his tenacity and dedication to the cause, a beautiful addition to any collectors portfolio. from; (The Alexandria Collection)
