275 Brigade R.F.A. 55th Division 1st Corps – 26 April 1918
675232 Gunner Thomas Cruse.
"For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 18 April 1918 b/275 Battery R.F.A. position at LE QUESNOY was very heavily shelled with 5.9 and 8 inch shells from about 4.0am in the morning till 1pm. All the guns were eventually knocked out but Gunner Cruse kept his gun in action till the last. When his gun was knocked out Gunner Cruse displayed the greatest gallantry in carrying wounded men under heavy fire. His pluck and utter disregard of personal safety throughout the day were beyond praise"
