Military Medal (Immediate)
During an advance on the night of the 20/21 January 1943 on 3444 EN NAB, Near CORRADINI, platoons of his company became disorganised and split, owing to the darkness and difficulty of the ground. In spite of the isolated position, this N.C.O., together with two other N.C.O's., worked his way right inside the enemy's position to within a short distance of the main road, along which the enemy was withdrawing early on 21 Jan '43. Armed only with a rifle this N.C.O. along with two others, held up an enemy vehicle withdrawing and captured about 20 prisoners. Having passed these back they then held up a second vehicle, but the occupants debussed and returned heavy fire. This N.C.O., along with two other N.C.O's. stood his ground until it was obvious the situation was too much for them and attempting to withdraw he became wounded.
The courage, devotion to duty and determination displayed by this N.C.O. was outstanding, and contributed very largely to the success of the action.
