Septimius Severus, with Julia Domna, Ӕ Medallion of Pergamon, Mysia. AD 193-211. AVT KAIΛ CЄΠ CЄOVHPOC ΠЄP, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Septimius Severus right, facing draped bust of Julia Domna left; IOV ΔOMNA CЄBACTH in two lines below / ЄΠI CTPA KΛAVΔIANOV TЄPΠANΔPOV, Ariadne reclining left within the grotto of Naxos, approached by a maenad, holding thyrsos and crown, and a satyr, who holds a lagobolon; ΠЄPΓAMHNΩN B NЄOKOPΩN in two lines below. Near Very Fine. Very Rare.

The scene portrayed on the reverse of this coin is the discovery by Dionysos (though not represented here) and his cortège, of Ariadne asleep in Naxos after her desertion by Theseus. It has been suggested by that this depiction of Ariadne most likely recalled a well-known sculpture, perhaps the 'Sleeping Ariadne', a Hellenistic sculpture of which a Roman copy is now in the Vatican Museum
