NORWAY. Hommage to the writers H. Ibsen (1828-1906) & B. Bjørnson (1832-1910). Large Silvered Bronze Cast by I. Throndsen, Kongsberg, 1900. Probably the trial for the reverse of an uncompleted medal representing the brothers Cleobis & Bito pulling their mother Kydippe in a car towards the Temple in Argos. Silvered Bronze Cast. 1321 Grams. 240 mm. Cf. Forrer VI/3. Two series of graffitis in the right field. A few spots of rust. About Uncirculated. Probably Unique. An amazing piece of Art! The design was intended to be a common reverse for medals honouring the national writers, Ibsen and Bjørnson, pulling the figure of Norway, thus symbolising their achievements.

Estimate: 2500
