Solidus, Nicomedia late 355, AV 4.53 g. D N IVLIANVS – NOB CAESAR Bareheaded, draped and cuirassed bust r. Rev. GLORIA – REI – PVBLICAE Roma and Constantinopolis enthroned facing, supporting between them a shield inscribed VOT / V Constantinopolis holding sceptre in l. hand and resting r. foot on prow and Roma holding spear in l. hand. In exergue, SMNC. C – cf. 24 (Gallus). Depeyrot – cf. 5/3 (Gallus). RIC – cf. 75 (Gallus).
An apparently unrecorded variety with the portrait and the types of Gallus and
the titulature of Julian II. Virtually as struck and almost Fdc
