Sicily, Selinos. late 5th century B.C. AR tetradrachm (26.2 mm, 17.04 g, 3 h). struck ca. 417 or 413 B.C. ΣEΛINONTION, quadriga driven by Nike, wreath above, grain ear below / The river god Silenus, naked, standing left, holding laurel branch and sacrificing out of a patera over flaming altar; cock standing before altar, selinon leaf over bull on pedestal in right field. BMC 44. g Fine. Very Rare.

This issue commemorates an important military victory, but which battle isn't entirely certain. It most likely commemorates either Selinos' victory over Segesta in 417 B.C. or Syracuse's victory over Athens in 413 B.C. in which Selinos sided with Syracuse. A nicer example sold in Triton X for $26,000.
