Malta. Silver striking of Gold 50 Pounds, 1977. As Fr-65; As KM-49. 14.95 grams. Struck as a piedfort in silver. Milled/reeded edge. Obverse, mnara with £M 50 at sides and date below. Reverse, stylised sun and sailing boat REPUBBLIKA TA MALTA.
Another excessively rare 'off-metal' striking of a coin which is only recorded in gold. With a weight of around 15 grams this is nearly as heavy as the regular gold issue, but considerably thicker.
