Java. British Administration gold 1/2 Rupee (Mohur) AH 1229//1814-Z XF - Tooled & Burnished, Sourabaya mint, KM248, Fr-15, Scholten-589a (RRR). A rare issue and in this case likely ex-jewelry, a previous owner very unfortunately having attempted to smooth the fields without realizing that the crude crosshatching is an "as-made" feature and comes from planchet adjustments at the mint. The script has remained largely unscathed.
