United States
Republic gold 20 Dollars 1884-CC MS61 PCGS, Carson City mint, KM74.3. A coin that is intimately tied to the western expansion of the United States, having been struck at the mint opened in Carson City, Nevada to help turn mined silver and gold ore from the Comstock Lode and from the California gold rush into usable specie. The mint, in operation for less than 20 years, was closed in 1889 after the local needs were greatly diminished. While all coins bearing the "CC" mintmark show heightened collector demand, the present coin, being a large gold issue and remaining in Mint State, receives even greater demand than most survivors.
Estimate: 12000-15000 USD
